1 -- Mammoth Hot
Springs/Yellowstone
Arrive in Bozeman and follow the
Yellowstone River to the north entrance
of
Yellowstone National Park. Travel
through
Paradise Valley with stops en route
to search for trumpeter swans and
bald eagles. At Mammoth, explore the
steaming thermal
terraces before an early dinner in
the
historic dining room.

Day
2 -- Lamar Valley / Cooke City
Rise early to take advantage of
the day's
best wildlife viewing hours. Listen
to the
sandhill cranes calling and watch pronghorn
kids playing as the sun rises. Enjoy
a field
breakfast from a ridgetop perch while
scanning for the grizzlies that are
likely to
be feeding in the sagebrush valley below.
Return to Mammoth for lunch before continuing
through the western plains of the Lamar
Valley to the small mountain town of
Cooke City.

Day
3 -- Cooke City
From the base of Cooke City, just
outside
Yellowstone's northeast entrance,
explore the wildlife-rich Lamar Valley
with the park's
best wolf-sighting opportunities.
Also look
for black bears, grizzly, red fox,
coyote,
elk, bison, and abundant migratory
birds. The day's outings are scheduled
around prime wildlife-viewing hours;early
morning and evenings;with down time
or hiking
opportunities in the afternoon.

Day
4 -- Yellowstone Lake
After today's morning wildlife
outing,
travel through the pastoral Hayden
Valley to
elegant accommodations at Lake Yellowstone
Hotel on the shores of Yellowstone
Lake. Just outside the hotel, view
bison, trumpeter swans, bald eagles,
sandhill cranes, coyote, and more.
As always, the day's schedule reflects
the pattern of wildlife activity,
with a return to prime sighting areas
after a delicious dinner in the historic
dining room.

Day
5 -- Yellowstone Lake
Today's schedule depends on the
season. In May, return to the Hayden
Valley for
opportunities to watch grizzly bear
courtship
or sows with cubs in tow. Or, travel
west to
the Firehole River in autumn to view
bull elk
competing for dominance of their harems.
After dinner, watch for wildlife and
listen
for bugling elk near Yellowstone Lake.

Day
6 -- Chico Hot Springs
Enjoy another morning of early wildlife
viewing and a final chance to explore
the
central and northern regions of Yellowstone.
Travel back through Paradise Valley
on the
'old road' watching for antelope and
white-tail deer. Spend the late afternoon
soaking in the natural hot springs pools
at
Chico Hot Springs and enjoy a festive
farewell dinner in the lodge's fine
dining
room.

7 -- Departure from Bozeman
Return to Bozeman to catch mid-day
flights
home. Or choose to stay an extra day
to visit the famed Museum of the Rockies
