can see to the bottom. Wildlife can easily be seen whether
you're driving in your car, sitting astride your horse or
hiking mountain trails.
The magnificent Rockies offer some of the nation's most revered
landscapes. They are the backbone of a wild land that extends
a unique blend of views, adventure, native civilization and
creature comforts. Spend a week at a western ranch, look over
the edge of a buffalo jump, fish miles of pristine rivers or
hike along the edge of an azure mountain lake.
Alaska is a land of extraordinary possibility. The Last Frontier's
character is defined by rich Indian, Eskimo and Aleut cultures,
giant Mt. McKinley, teeming seabirds, sea otters, Kodiak bears
and Dall sheep. Whether you hike among caribou in the shadow
of Denali's spires, kayak the rugged seacoast or marvel at a
breaching whale, you'll leave with intense memories and remarkable
stories to tell.
No sharper contrast can be found in nature than that of the
Rocky Mountains to the neighboring Desert Southwest. Replace
fir trees with towering saguaros, soaring mountains with plunging
canyons, and snow-filled winters with ceaseless sunny days.
This is a land of colorful geology and vibrant Indian and Hispanic
cultures. Hike along smooth slick rock below hanging gardens,
visit centuries-old ruins, and plumb the depths of one of the
world's largest canyons.
Rich diversity characterizes the Pacific Northwest, where lush
rainforests, coastal tide pools, high mountain glaciers, traditional
Indian and British cultures, and two thriving, energetic cities
come together. The result is an exciting combination of art,

On the southernmost reaches of the backbone of the Western Hemisphere,
high rugged mountains, glaciers, rivers, lakes and forests overwhelm
